Nice.  There's an Occupy Montreal, downtown here but it's just an excuse for people to pitch tents and do nothing.
First, you said, "pitch tents". (Tee hee!)

Second, I got a question for you. Is your online name "Mo" because you live in Montreal?

It's been awhile since anything really exciting happened in my neighborhood but today made up for it (the first one is 3 blocks from my apartment):

Yet again someone forgot the law of gross tonnage. I posted the same before.

So, about a month ago (Monday 3/4/13 to be exact) I was on my way to my job when the train stopped and told us all to get off because there was police activity a couple stops ahead. Turned out to be a fatal shooting right near the train stop. Luckily I got a ride from my boss.

Then, on Wednesday (3/6/13) I got stopped a block away from my work by these guys who were dealing with a hostage situation at a marijuana hydroponics farm:

So, yeah, that's what's happening in my work neighborhood. Makes my home neighborhood (the Tenderloin) look like Disney Land.

A controlled burn in Ft Ord today. Though considering the amount of smoke all that brush sent up one has to wonder. Seems someone did not get the memo about "Spare the Air Day".

Can't enlarge it for some reason (Mo) but I downloaded it to get a better look. That's a big fucking fire but most of Ft. Ord is back-woods training areas so I'm not surprised that it became overgrown since the base's closure. No more soldiers around to hack the shit out of it with machetes.

As Throbble and I walked up to our local bar/restaurant for our Saturday brunch we noticed something unusual. We got to watch quite a show while we ate and drank our afternoon away:

Pics from my phone:

They got the guy a few days later. Turns out he had bomb making material in his apartment (there is a Radio Shack and a hardware store on the same block) and he was trying to buy toxic substances from torrent sites using bitcoin.  The FBI were back on the scene Thursday when I went for lunch. The suspect was pretty well known at the restaurant but I don't think I ever met him.

A little old but these guys were fighting outside my apartment behind the 7 Eleven on Main St. (they woke me) then they got held up in an apartment near a friend of mine.

Biggest earthquake since the Loma Prieta quake 25 years ago hit Northern California around 3:20 am this morning. Even though it was centered around Napa it rocked San Francisco pretty hard around 3:30 am (waking Throbble and me up of course).

Up in Napa some homes burned down because of broken gas lines. There were a bunch of minor injuries and a kid was in serious condition after the fireplace he was sleeping next to fell on him. As far as I know there was no damage and no injuries in the San Francisco bay area. Most of the people I've talked to slept right through it.
