What's Happening in Your Neighborhood?

--- Quote from: 420 on August 03, 2009, 11:14:23 PM ---That's what happens when you go up against one of our vintage street cars. Throbble and I were in a cab on Market a few years back when we passed a street car that had obliterated a minivan that tried to cut it off. Unfortunately the way the cabbie decided to pass was by driving into oncoming traffic.

Saw this on my way home today. Two of the vintage streetcars on Market street making a sandwich out of an SUV. Looks like somone forgot the law of gross tonage.

Check out the article about the crash on SF Gate.
--- Quote ---At the height of Monday's evening commute, a historic F-line streetcar rear-ended an SUV, pushing it into the back of another F-line streetcar stopped for traffic. Witnesses said the driver of the first streetcar, Lonny Butler, was distracted.

The streetcar, the minivan or the cab? Whichever, I agree.

Meclar:
They just passed a law banning cell phone use which I thought was covered under a previous law that prohibited doing anything with your hands other than driving.
But since that subway accident in, I think DC and there's been some in the Boston area, the local news is all over stuff like this. That was a good picture.

We already have that law here. You need to use some sort of hands free. However I still see many people on their phones while driving. Even I'm guilty some times. I don't like the hands free device that I got.
Soul Sojourner:
That's shit.
If you're talking on the phone while driving and fuck up because you're on the phone, it's not because you're holding the phone, it's because you're giving the conversation some of your concentration and focus that should be reserved for driving. Anybody who fucks up because they ARE holding a phone, should never take their hands off the wheel. They probably shouldn't even be driving.
No offense to one-handed individuals. This statement wasn't meant for you.
