It only takes me 3 hours to beat an action game!
« on: November 06, 2007, 11:51:16 AM »
I love sleep lately. Used to skip a lot of nights during the longest vacation of my career.

I decided not to buy Hellgate... Since I have kind of a low budget and I think I'll regret it. Plus, the greatest action/adventure game ever is coming out soon. I must have money for it.

well....why don't you make a SP game that lasts more then a week you know how hard it is to make a game that lasts for one week, besides if you're a casual gamer like me a game can last a lot more got the witcher for almost two weeks now and i'm in act 2 of the 6 acts + the epilogue lol...

RPG games are completely different, the action games are the short ones, games like metal gear, resident evil, prince of persia, splinter cell... you can beat them in just a few hours, i believe Assassins creed will have a decent duration since you can hide between people and choose to play like a real assassin or just go berserk, im really looking forward to this game even if its short (which i hope not).

I can advise you to play single player games as little as you can. It would be perfect if you can keep it to the weekends. Believe me when I say it feels much more rewarding when you beat it that way.

Assassin's Creed easily beats most console action/adventure games on the market right now like Prince of Persia and God of War. Well... I hope so. I'm almost sure it will.

Metal Gear its not final fantasy, make it more like an hour besides most likely the cutscenes dont count as playtime; because actually i beated it in the 3 hours and same for resident evil 2 i rember i beated it in like 2 hours 56 minutes and got infinite ammo SMG (on RE2), there was an extra in mgs for beating it under 3 hours but i dont remember what is was, i think it was seeing snake with a smoking and grey fox with reversed  colors or maybe something else.

I feel sorry for people that finish MGS so fast. It's as if they no longer care about the game itself but more about how fast they can beat it so they can brag. =P

I am usually always happy with any game I beat. I think it's because of the way I like to play. I try to get the most possible out of games as I can usually.

An example is Morrowind, when I play that I choose to join and beat every guild I can, do every side/road quest I can possibly find, become a vampire and do all I can think of doing for quests and stuff as that, do the quest to get cured of vampirism, continue beating everything else I can until the only thing left is the main quest. Then I go through and beat the main quest as thoroughly as possible... and then I raid every single hide-out, mine, tomb, ruin, and anything else I can find throughout the entire map. Then I move onto one of the expansions... and do the exact same thing. And I enjoy every minute of it. And I don't just flip through the quests either, I take my time with them and try to figure out all of my options and what best suits my character's personality as well as what would be most beneficial to me as a player. For instance, the choice of accepting someone's reward when they are poor and don't have much, or just letting them keep it. The reward may be useful, but letting them keep it may suite my characters personality more, or, if I'm playing a character with that type of attitude (say someone wanted me to escort them somewhere) I may very well just kill them and take what I want.

In NWN I know in some modules it was the same way. My only problem with alot of games, and especially NWN modules... is that I play so thoroughly I often fuck up quests or the main quest or something by doing stuff I'm not supposed to be able to do just because I stumbled upon things I wasn't meant to yet. For instance, this one module I played had a certain area where travelling too far in it would eventually kill you... well shit... that's no challenge for me, I could just drink those sleep in a bottles and get fully rested and trudge through more, and do it again. (scripts on the ground caused you damage) Then there was to be one trigger across the entire area where you instantly die. Somehow I got past that and messed up the whole main quest. After that though I helped the creator by reporting a billion bugs I found... I tend to find bugs really well with that playstyle too.. heh. Usually it ends good as long as my game doesn't get messed up somehow.

Just to clear things out because as said b4 hell's reading comprehension is nowhere to be found :P, i said ACTION GAMES and you even named the topic that way, but seems you dont even know the difference between game types xD, morrowind and nwn are both rpg and rpgs are about  the only type that can last a lot.

They should make the ultimate game of multiple genres. RPG/Action/Adventure. Take the best from all those genres and put them together in one flexible system that is easy to use and hard to master. Then add an excellent storyline (and a nice theme/setting to put it in) that takes up months of playtime and finally add some interesting characters that you won't get bored of. *drools*

You shouldn't be so quick to assume, I didn't name this topic. I didn't even split it.

Yes, Morrowind and NWN are RPG's, but I never disagreed with you at all. I just said how I play games by mentioning a couple... action games? I do the same exact thing... absolutely everything I can possibly do. If you consider GoW to be action, then so is Halo, and in both of those, I still looked everywhere and explored everything to it's fullest, taking my time and following the same style of play I always do. My friend still plays Halo one and has been for years now, often even.

Metal Gear Solid 3 has the most memorable bosses ever.
