Problem with AGP slot
« on: April 13, 2007, 11:32:30 PM »
I wanted to install my old GeForce 6200 OC card on my new computer just as a placeholder until I get a new card (as it didnt come with a card, just the chipset im tired of using) but the AGP slot is 3 milimeters too far to the left to insert it (and it lines up perfectly along the left side of the tower).

Are there different size AGP slots or am I just doing it wrong?

I couldn't find a streightforward answer on any help site so im just gonna ask here.

Ya it might be a PCI slot on the motherboard of your new computer.  I learnt this recently as I just bought a video card today (GeForce 7600 GT).  "Older" motherboards have AGP slots and not PCI.  There's also PCI-Express.

Alot of newer video cards use PCI-Express. It's become rather... popular.

You don't have an AGP slot.  You're lucky you don't cause if you did you're new video card wouldn't work.

Oh and don't try and put your old card into your new pc or you'll break something.

I was reading an old article when it was talkign about AGP slots. Its easy to see it wouldnt fit and I dont force anything when working on my computers lol

I read my computer manual and I have a PCI-Express and my 6200 OC wont work cause its a 16x and I think i have 8x (went to bestbuy and just read a bunch of card boxes)
