They've been offering open-source alternatives for a long time.  The Dells at my University have Fedora installed.

Iv never used or even seen Linux so Im prolly too dumb. Ill probably stick to windows

we had linux for a while in our school because we couldnt afford the windows licence ... i gotta say i like it more then windows

Back in the early 90's when I worked for the Navy they gave me an assignment: Find out what Linux is, download it, pick three computers from the lab and set up a linux network on them.

Back then I only had 3 1/2 diskettes which only hold 1.44 megs of data. I downloaded the entire Linux OS onto about 30 diskettes. I think X-Windows had just come out at the time and I could set up multiple desktops on a single 14" monitor.

It's pretty fun and the only real problem with Linux is that many windows-only programs require some kind of emulation software to run on Linux.

Every "windows-only" program will not run on Linux.  That's why it's windows only

Sure install a VMware client inside your Linux install to boot up Windows XP while inside Linux. That would work.  Wouldn't be useful for gaming though.  Linux and gaming aren't compatible.
