No way makes more sense than another way.
if you write out a date you normally do it like this: April 22nd, 2005 ----> this would translate into 04/22/2005 ---> month/day/year
If you're French you write dates like this 22 Avril, 2005
If I were you i'd just stick to write out dates like they do in your own State or Country otherwise you're in for confusion.
