Router Problems

w00t ! its Talon!!!
yeah i just dont like ms much. the last time i mixed win98 and win2k on one network i had to step through some weird settings and each os had to set up differently and i had to install some weird stuff. took too long for my tastes.
worst of all, none of the steps were logical and all conformed to "ms logic" - which to me is really bad because it locks you into their way of thinking. i do not want to become enslaved to ms's way of thinking.
but other people can have different views.

--- Quote ---Today i added a new comp to my LAN at home. Well, the problem is: I cant connect to the Internet with it. It gets a IP from the Router and has access to the LAN, but not to the Internet. Weird is all other PC's can connect to the Internet. Its the only one in the LAN with Win XP on it. I have no clue what the reason could be, maybe somebody could help me?

If you are sure you are connected to the LAN (i.e can see other computers):
ping 216.239.59.104
If you get a response, the problem is your DNS server settings.
If you get no response, the problem is your gateway setting.
If you are still getting problems, the easiest way to set up your connection with XP is using the "Set up a Home or Small Office Network" wizard (Control Panel->Network Connections->Set up a Home or Small Office Network)

I get a response of the ping.
Have you an idea what exactely could be wrong in the settings?

Problem solved,
the reason was the network controller.
I dont know if it is broken or whats the problem, but it works with another one. :)
But thank you for your help :)
