Today i added a new comp to my LAN at home. Well, the problem is: I cant connect to the Internet with it. It gets a IP from the Router and has access to the LAN, but not to the Internet. Weird is all other PC's can connect to the Internet. Its the only one in the LAN with Win XP on it. I have no clue what the reason could be, maybe somebody could help me?  :unsure:

A few years ago I got a new computer w/Winxp and hooked it up to a LAN with one computer w/Win95 and the other w/Win98.  I recall having trouble and those older ones are still set up but the system with XP doesn't show on the older two well actually another syatem that has 98 so the three older ones don't see the one with XP.  Some how I got it working in the Network Connections and going to Setting up a small home office network. I'll reply again to this

if you misx OSes on a lan and internet share the connection each OS has to be set up differently. usually each OS needs a separate download of a patch from ms's official webpage or a manual patch which you have to do.

this is known as "microsoft high-technology" or "NWWYWIT" tech = "never works when you want it to" tech as in " I NWWYWIT wouldn't work"

if you use linux for all ur pcs u will have much less problems.

If you are sure you are connected to the LAN (i.e can see other computers):

ping 216.239.59.104
If you get a response, the problem is your DNS server settings.
If you get no response, the problem is your gateway setting.

If you are still getting problems, the easiest way to set up your connection with XP is using the "Set up a Home or Small Office Network" wizard (Control Panel->Network Connections->Set up a Home or Small Office Network)
